Preparation:
- Clean and dry the skin thoroughly according to hospital protocol before applying the NeoBridge.
- Important: Do not use alcohol for skin cleansing, as this can affect adhesion.
Application:
- Actively warm the hydrocolloid adhesive using one of the following methods:
- Holding it between your palms for at least 60 seconds.
- Holding it near a radiant warmer for 10-15 seconds.
- Using a chemical heel warmer for 10-15 seconds.
- Discard the white paper liner and peel off the clear plastic liner from the hydrocolloid base.
- With the slit on the right side and the wider end of the hydrocolloid base facing the patient's head, slip the catheter(s) through the center of the NeoBridge.
- Apply the base to the clean, dry skin, pressing firmly for 60 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.
- Peel and discard the frosted liner from the top half of the flap. Position the catheter(s) in an arch or U shape on the flap to minimize tension, ensuring that the catheter(s) exit out the side of the flap without extending into the green area.
- Peel and discard the frosted liner from the bottom half of the flap. Bring the flap up, aligning the green areas of both the top and bottom halves, and press firmly together to secure the catheters in place.
- Pull the flaps apart as needed to reposition or remove the catheter(s), then close to secure.
Removal:
- Replace NeoBridge every 5 days or as indicated by hospital protocol.
- Pull the flaps apart gently to remove the catheter(s).
- Moisten the NeoBridge with water or saline to ease removal.
- Slowly peel NeoBridge away from the skin while swabbing the area with water or saline to minimize discomfort.
- Enhances patient comfort due to its gentle, skin-friendly material.
- Reduces catheter-related complications by securing placement and decreasing the likelihood of dislodgement.
- Facilitates easy access to catheters for maintenance or adjustments.
- Minimizes skin irritation and breakdown commonly seen with traditional adhesive products.
- Improves visibility of the insertion site for healthcare providers.
