Novabone Porous Granules 1 x 0.5cc (0.25gm)
NovaBone Granules (Dental Morsels) are bioactive, porous calcium-phosphosilicate particles designed for faster bone integration and remodeling. These granules bond with bone and soft tissue, offering radiopacity for effective post-operative assessment.
Price is inclusive of Taxable Goods
Features:
- Increased Surface Area: Granules feature a textured surface that significantly enhances osteoblast attachment.
- Radio-Opacity: Granules are easily visualized on radiographs, appearing denser than surrounding bone.
- Osteostimulation: Granules accelerate bone regeneration through osteostimulation.
- Storage & Shelf Life: Requires no special storage; can be kept at room temperature with a 5-year shelf life.
Clinical Indications:
- Optimal for guided bone regeneration and lateral window sinus elevations.
- Effective in treating fenestration, dehiscence defects, peri-implantitis, and ridge augmentation.
- Ideal for sinus lifts, extraction sites, cystic cavities, and craniofacial augmentation.
Contraindications:
NovaBone Dental Morsels are not suitable for patients who:
- Require chronic anticoagulant therapy, though postoperative use of Coumadin or aspirin is acceptable.
- Are on immunosuppressants or medications impacting the skeleton, except for estrogen replacement.
- Have undergone or are undergoing radiation therapy in the graft area.
- Suffer from metabolic disorders that impair healing, such as poorly controlled diabetes or renal osteodystrophy.
- Have conditions that compromise mucosal or bone healing.
Technical Specification | Osteostimulation : NovaBone Granules are osteostimulatory! The granules not only act as an a osteoconductive scaffold but also facilitate release of ions that signal and recruit bone precursor cells to the defect site and stimulate osteobla differentiation and proliferation This phenomenon is unique to NovaBone technology and has be demonstrated in over 25-30 clinical publications. Sizes & Availability : Granules are available in vials and are perfect for use with hand instruments and for mixing with blood or PRF. Use of Biomodiers like PRF is suggested when using granules to facilitate faster bone integration into the matrix. |

Directions to Use | Routine surgical procedures should be used to expose the surgical site. Once exposed, eliminate all granulation or necrotic tissue at the defect site. Irrigate the defect with sterile saline or water and evacuate the excess. Advice: Intra-marrow penetration is useful to ensure some bleeding from the host bone, which provides a supply of osteogenic material to aid in bone regeneration. 1. Remove the NovaBone Dental Morsels device from the outer container. For cup packaging, remove the lid from the cup by slowly peeling back the lid at an acute angle to avoid loss of powder. 2. Mix the NovaBone Dental Morsels with sterile water, saline, or the patient’s blood or marrow before application. For cup packaging - apply 8-12 drops per cc to the NovaBone Dental Morsels in the mixing cup. Do not over wet. Excess solution may be blotted with a corner Advice: Do not place NovaBone Dental Morsels in the dry asreceived state. While NovaBone Dental Morsels can be moistened with either sterile water or sterile saline, it is suggested that osseous regeneration can occur more rapidly by using the patient’s osteogenic blood or marrow obtained by scoring the surface or drilling into the cortical bone at the surgical site. 3. If autograft or allograft bone is to be used, ensure that it is fully hydrated prior to mixing with an amount approximately equal to the NovaBone Dental Morsels in the mixing cup. Mixing time is not critical. Typically, the flat end of a sterile spatula can be used for approximately 10-15 seconds to mix the NovaBone Dental Morsels with the solution. The mixed material may be delivered to the surgical site using the spoon end of the spatula or similar instrument. NovaBone Dental Morsels will remain in a moist workable condition for 2-3 minutes following mixing and can be rehydrated if required. NovaBone Dental Morsels does not set like a cement. 4. Gently fill each defect, in small increments, to the highest level of bony defect. Regeneration will occur best when blood and blood vessels can infiltrate the graft material. 5. After placement of the NovaBone Dental Morsels, ensure primary closure of the soft tissues over the graft site. Resorbable or nonresorbable membranes may also be used to achieve closure. As is the case with any particulate graft procedure, primary closure of the surgical site is essential. 6. Discard any excess material and packaging. Neither the material nor its packaging can be reused or re-sterilized. 7. Appropriate postoperative antibiotic, analgesic and home care regimen should be prescribed. The oral or periodontal patient should be cautioned against chewing on or brushing the area for at least 1 to 2 weeks or as long as the clinician deems necessary. Antibacterial rinses should be used during this period. These instructions are intended as guidelines for the use of NovaBone Dental Morsels as a part of established techniques. They are not intended to replace or change standard grafting techniques associated with instrumental stabilization. |

All device packaging should be inspected prior to use to insure maintenance of sterility.
