SybronEndo Kerr Sealapex Root Canal Sealer

Sealapex is a non-eugenol, radiopaque calcium hydroxide and polymeric resin-based root canal sealer. It features a two-part base/catalyst system, consisting of a paste/paste formula mixed in equal proportions. The mixture can be applied to the root canal using endodontic obturation points or directly dispensed into the canal, depending on the delivery method, such as a tube.

Features:

  • Less toxic compared to ZOE sealers.
  • Promotes rapid healing.
  • Helps prevent root resorption following trauma.
  • Provides an effective seal to prevent leakage.
  • Encourages apical closure through cementogenesis.
  • Inhibits osteoclast activity by maintaining an alkaline pH.

Indication for Use:

  • Sealapex is a non-eugenol, radiopaque calcium hydroxide and polymeric resin root canal sealer designed to be used in combination with gutta-percha points.
Technical Details
Technical Specification
  • Calcium hydroxide polymer
  • Base(12g tube) + Catalyst (18g tube).

Base Component :

  • N-ethyl-o(or p)-toluenesulphonamide: 30-60%
  • Calcium oxide: 30-60%
  • Zinc oxide: 1-5%
  • Zinc distearate : 1-5%

Catalyst Component :

  • Methyl salicylate: 10-30%
  • 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diol: 1-5%
  • Isobutyl salicylate : 1-5%
  • 1 x 12g tube base
  • 1 x 18g tube catalyst
  • 1 x Mixing pad
  • Extrude equal amount of base and catalyst on the mixing pad and mix by spatulating the paste for 15 to 20 seconds .
  • Approximately, of an inch of each paste should be mixed for each root canal.
  • Thorough spatulation of equal extruded length should result in mix of uniform consistency with no off - colour blotches or streakes.
  • Using a lentulo spiral or gutta percha point, carry the mixed sealer into the instrumented, cleaned, and the dried root canal.
  • Select a gutta percha point that will reach the working length and will not allow the point to pass through the apical foramen to avoid material extrusion.
  • Coat the gutta percha point with the sealer and insert it into the root canal with the slow pumping motion.
  • Alternatively apply the mixed material onto the tip of the lentulo spiral .
  • Slowly introduce the lentulo spiral into canal at a very low speed to avoid the formation of air voids or overfilling the canal and withdraw the lentulo spiral while still in the rotating motion.
