- Preparation: Ensure that the teeth are clean and dry before placing the lingual brackets. Clean the tooth surface using a toothbrush and dental floss. Use a cheek retractor or other appropriate tools to keep the working area accessible.
- Bracket selection: Choose the appropriate lingual brackets based on the tooth position and treatment plan. Different brackets may be used for anterior teeth, premolars, and molars.
- Bonding procedure: Apply a suitable bonding agent or adhesive e.g.Waldent Nanobond, to the base of each bracket. Place the brackets carefully on the tooth surface, aligning them properly with the tooth anatomy. Press firmly to ensure good bonding and remove any excess adhesive.
- Light curing: Use a curing light to cure the bonding agent, ensuring that it sets and securely attaches the brackets to the teeth.
- Archwire placement: After the brackets are securely bonded, insert the appropriate archwire into the bracket slots. Start with a smaller diameter archwire and progress to larger ones as the treatment progresses.
- Ligature or ligation: Depending on the system being used, secure the archwire to the brackets using either ligatures (small elastic or wire ties) or a ligation mechanism provided with the brackets. Follow the system-specific instructions for proper ligation technique.
- Adjustment and follow-up: Regularly assess the progress of the treatment and make necessary adjustments during follow-up appointments. This may involve changing archwires, adjusting the ligation, or making other modifications as needed.
