Preparation:
- Prepare minimally invasive cavities, preserving healthy tooth substance, without the need for undercuts.
- Ensure Class V cavities have a minimum depth of 1 mm.
- Remove preparation residues with water spray, then dry with air, leaving the surface slightly glossy.
- Place a matrix if needed.
- If residual dentine thickness is insufficient, cover the area near the pulp with calcium hydroxide.
Shade Selection:
- Use a VITA shade guide on a moist tooth to select the appropriate shade.
Mixing:
- Shake the powder and liquid bottles for at least 3 seconds before dispensing.
- Dispense a level spoonful of powder onto a mixing pad and close the bottle immediately to prevent moisture exposure.
- Add 2 drops of liquid per level scoop of powder (powder/liquid ratio 3.2:1 g/g).
- Mix using solid plastic or abrasion-proof spatulas until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
- Process the cement at room temperature (15°C - 23°C).
Application:
- Apply the mixed Ionolux into the cavity with a suitable instrument and contour it.
- Light-cure with a polymerization lamp.
- For fillings over 2 mm thick, apply and light-cure in layers.
Light-Curing:
- Use polymerization lamps with an output of at least 500 mW/cm².
- Cure each layer for 20 seconds.
- Keep the lamp tip close to the filling surface; curing depth decreases if the distance exceeds 5 mm.
Finishing:
- After light-curing, remove excess material.
- Finish and polish the filling as usual.
Warnings and Precautions:
- If the material contacts oral mucosa or skin, use an alcohol-soaked cotton swab, then rinse with water.
- In case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water and consult an ophthalmologist.
- Avoid using phenolic substances, particularly those containing eugenol or thymol, with Ionolux.
- Ensure products are suitable for their intended purpose.
