- 1 x Springbow
- 1 x Transfer clamp assembly
- 1 x Anterior elevating assembly
- 1 x Mounting platform with built-in cast support
- 1 x Bitefork and biteplane
Preparation:
- Gather all required materials: Hanau Spring FaceBow, sterilized bite fork, cotton roll, base plate wax, barred Parker, and a heating medium for wax.
- Identify the raised metal button on the fork, ensuring it aligns with the patient’s left side.
Preparing the Bite Fork:
- Evenly heat the base plate wax until it develops a glossy appearance, indicating the right working temperature.
- Fold the wax in half to increase thickness for proper cusp tip capture.
- Seal the wax edges to prevent separation.
- Mold the wax onto the fork, using the raised metal button as a guide, ensuring it conforms to all corners.
Capturing the Bite Registration:
- If needed, reheat the wax for better adaptation and cusp tip impressions.
- Position the bite fork in the patient’s mouth, aligning the midline mark with their mid-facial plane.
- Gently press the fork against the upper teeth to create an impression, avoiding excessive pressure that may perforate the wax.
- Ensure only cusp tips are captured, with a minimum of three points of contact.
Finalizing FaceBow Placement:
- Hold the clamp assembly with your right hand and the ear bow with your left.
- Attach clamp number three onto the fork stem, positioning it three-fourths of the way toward the patient.
- Expand the ear bow smoothly into the external auditory meatus, ensuring self-centering for anterior-posterior accuracy.
- Locate the infraorbital notch and align the orbital pointer accordingly.
- Adjust the vertical rod until the pointer is parallel to the orbital and secure all clamps.
Completing the Registration:
- Carefully remove the facebow assembly, expanding the ear bow halves gently.
- Tighten all clamps and disinfect the registration as per guidelines.
- Mount the maxillary cast using the captured bite registration for accurate articulation and precise dental restoration fabrication.
